Din păcate, totul s-a transformat într-un coşmar şi nimănui nu-i mai arde de petrecere. La antrenamentul de sanie care a avut loc la Sliding Center din Whistler, georgianul Nodar Kumaritashvili, 21 de ani, s-a rănit atît de grav la ultimul viraj – acelaşi care le-a făcut probleme şi surorile Raluca şI Violeta Strămăturaru – încît intervenţia medicilor nu i-au putut salva viaţa.

În momentul în care l-au adus la spital, noi eram acolo. Au încercat să-i resusciteze. Sîntem şi noi şocaţi.

A declarat Raluca Strămăturaru pentru GSP, sportivă ce cu o zi în urmâ a avut şi ea un accident la Sliding Center.
